Arts & Music

Art is rarely made alone.
We partner with artists, museums, and cultural organizations to bring complex ideas into physical form.

Hare & Arrow Arts works with artists, museums, galleries, and cultural institutions to fabricate sculpture, installations, exhibition elements, and custom works of art. We collaborate throughout the design and production process, helping develop ideas into finished pieces while respecting the intent of the artist and the needs of the institution.

Our institution collaborators have included the Bay Area Discovery Museum, the Exploratorium, The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, SFMOMA, and the Center for New Music. These partnerships have ranged from exhibition design, fabrication and public installations, to artist-led commissions and experimental projects.

Alongside our collaborative arts fabrication practice, the studio produces original work by artist and musician Sung Kim.

Trained as a sculptor, Sung's practice spans sculpture, sound, and instrument making. His hand-built instruments investigate material, resonance, and form, serving as both functional musical instruments and sculptural objects.

His recent participation in the 2026 Spring Eames Ranch Studio Residency has provided an opportunity to further develop this body of work alongside a community of fellow artists working across disciplines.

The studio is also home to the Hare & Arrow Arts' Sound Series.

The Hare & Arrow Arts Sound Series centers on a growing collection of original instruments designed and built by Sung Kim. Each instrument is placed with invited musicians, who live with, perform, and contribute to the ongoing development of the collection.

Hosted in the studio, the series presents informal performances that explore new instruments, new music, and the evolving relationship between maker and musician.
