Kintsugi Dining Table` — Hare and Arrow Arts

The Kintsugi ( 金継ぎ ) Dining Table

Comprised of walnut slabs repurposed from a countertop built by Hare & Arrow Arts many years ago, the Kintsugi dining table is a testament to respect for materials and history.

The client wished to keep memories of their business while honoring the materials that helped build them.

It was an honor to revisit these slabs with such a personal history for both client and maker.

At its core, a slender "crack" embellished with golden resin pays homage to the Japanese art of Kintsugi, celebrating imperfections and the beauty of healing.

The inlays resemble delicate bandage strips, symbolizing strength through embracing imperfection and damage.

Each meal at the table becomes a celebration of life's journey, reminding us to engage with the beauty that emerges when imperfections are honored.
